Yup, full CGI movie is the only way to go. Maybe, like the 2 Final Fantasy movies or like the intro of Armored Core 4 or it's sequel For Answer but battles in it has to be fast, very fast...as in inducing-vertigo fast. Otherwise, it won't fully capture the spirit of High Speed Robot Action.

For the character development Nazis amongst us, yeah it can be made into multiple movies just so we can have that precious character development too.
