Post Re: so...Metal Gear movie?
I learned about this on thesnakesoup.org, a few days ago. Honestly, unless they use the script I'm working on, which is practically word for word MGS1, it'll probably be a complete mess. I'm not saying this because I'm partial to my screenplay, but because I don't know of any Hollywood screenwriters out there who actually adhere to their source material the right way. The problem with video game adaptations is that they focus on recreating the gameplay in a film format, instead of trying to focus on recreating the story of the game in a film format.

Resident Evil - focus on the gameplay, shitty original story (which has nothing to do with the games)
Doom - focus on the gameplay, and the atmosphere to a lesser extent, shitty semi-original story (which ripped Hell right out of the story)
Mortal Kombat (and every other martial arts movie based on a fighting game) - focus on the gameplay, adhered to the story (this may actually have been that film's fault)
Silent Hill - focus on the story and the atmosphere, just as good as the games
Red Faction Origins - focus on the story and the atmosphere, just as good as the games

If a Metal Gear Solid movie can adhere to the story and atmosphere of the games, even if it's not a direct adaptation (say, it takes place between MGS1 and MGS2), then it'll probably be good, and Avi Arad has had some success in the past (he's also failed a few times, *cough*Daredevil*cough*), so maybe I'm worrying over nothing.

This is not a good idea.

Yes, it's probably a bad idea, but let's see what they do with it first.

I'm afraid to see what will become of this... Becouse you know...movies made after videogames tend to SUCK *SS.

I'm not sure if they decided to make a liveaction-movie out of Zone of the Enders whether to freak out becouse it would be so awesome or so horrible.

I'm actually interested in seeing how this turns out, with Kojima in the mix this might be a good enjoyable film.
