wh...what have I done?
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... =1&theaterI'M SO HAPPY about the ZOE guys noticing my work and I was happy about the shoutout. However, the fans got really upset at them, and I feel that it may have been my fault. I got a shoutout from the OFFICIAL ZOE page, and uhm... I think I accidentally the whole fandom due to the picture I made the other day. O_O

Well, yeah, of course the fans get upset. Gangnam Style went viral and is already sort of annoying. Same way people get fed up when official pages post fan art with ponies (in which case, I'm usually guilty of hypocrisy, seeing how I find those negative reactions funny. Double standards, YEAH!). michael_3dx wrote: Be happy the ZOE guys liked your work, and didn't sue you for copyright infrigment Why would they sue him?

Don't mind it. There's always out some butthurt people. Don't like? - Don't look. No need to ass out it on everybody.
I just wish the peole who post up all that ZOE-stuff could give proper credit dammit. They put even the ZOE cubeecraft photos I posted up in Tumblr in the FB page. Sure I don't own the rights for those cubees(the creator and Konami?? does) but the photos were still taken by me.

There is something called intellectual property http://kotaku.com/5420240/how-to-make-a-fan-game-and-not-get-your-ass-suedhttp://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=26290So I think they can sue you if you don't have explicit permission

Re: wh...what have I done?
Yeah, but is that talking about simple fan games or fan games with profit? Usually devs don't care if no profit is involved, since it might even help promote the original product. Only exceptions I've known so far are people who made large decks of MagicTG cards ready to print (which goes in direct competition with the devs and was almost like providing the real deal for free).
But with games? Especially if it's a PC fan game when the original is on consoles? Dude, there's no way anyone would make a fuss about it. I know there's such a thing as intellectual property, but, unless said fan games become a threat, devs don't feel any reason to prosecute them.
Not to mention that the ZOE guys might not even know that Jehuty model is from a fan game (or, more specifically, fan mod). All they saw was a captioned image of the model in the Gangnam Style pose.

Re: wh...what have I done?
I actually learned about the intellectual property laws in micro economics. Well, briefly touched upon them. They can be pretty complicated. Even if someone is violating the IP, if it's not an actual threat to the profits, I guess they typically don't go through the trouble to sue someone. But I'm not even sure that fan art would be considered in violation, anyways...
