You and I have a few things in common there: Didn't get into ZOE until after all the games had come out (though for me, I was interested in it in 2001, but didn't play it until 2006), and more into Metal Gear and Xenosaga (I still have yet to beat the first one, although it's because my PS2 hates my copy).
